I appreciate those of you that have left comments. I do want to clarify that this blog is not saying that Booth had no affiliations with Freemasons. There is a distinct difference between knowing Freemasons, and entering into the rituals and proclamations that are performed in the society. Association should not be considered or equated with Masonic membership. Also, Freemasons have built numerous buildings (including many churches) around the world. Entering into these buildings does not equate to membership. If you know of some evidence that can be researched and validated, please leave a comment.
There have been several William Booths that have held Masonic Lodge membership. However, upon investigation, these men are not the founder of the Salvation Army. Additionally, there seems to be no evidence that William Booth (the founder of the Salvation Army) received a Masonic burial.
